Arts & Crafts signs renewed US distribution deal with Caroline

Toronto-based independent artist services company Arts & Crafts has signed a renewed distribution partnership with Caroline for the US.

Arts & Crafts records will continue to be distributed through Universal Music Canada in its home country.

Upcoming releases under the new deal include an album from Broken Social Scene (pictured), music from Overcoats, Tom Chaplin, Kid Koala and Dan Mangan.

Arts & Crafts encompasses a record label, artist management firm, event producer, merchandiser and music publisher.

It was founded in 2002 by Jeffrey Remedios, who is now CEO of Universal Music Canada, and Broken Social Scene member Kevin Drew with the release of the latter’s second album, You Forgot It In People.

Since then, the independent company has released more than 130 albums from more than 70 artists, earning 24 JUNO Awards and 10 Polaris Music Prize shortlist nominations.

On Sunday, A&C artist Gord Downie received 2017 JUNO Awards for Songwriter of the Year and Adult Alternative Album of The Year.

Additionally, his album Secret Path received an award for Recording Package of The Year.

Other names on the A&C roster who’ll release new music this year are Reuben and the Dark, Cold Specks, Lowell, The Belle Game, Jean-Michel Blais and Bernice.

A&C has been the Canadian home to other artists including Feist, Japandroids, BADBADNOTGOOD, Tobias Jesso Jr., Timber Timbre, Andy Shauf, Tei Shi, Moby, Royskopp, and many more.
