Record iPhone sales announced as Apple Music trials start to expire

The first wave of three-month Apple Music free trials are set to expire this week. Just in time for the big event, Apple has announced that it’s just set a record for iPhone sales.

The new iPhone 6S/6S-plus models sold more than 13m units in their first three days on shelves, according to the Cupertino giant.

That’s 3m ahead of the opening weekend sales of its predecessor, iPhone 6.

“Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

“Customers’ feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can’t wait to bring iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9.”
