Ambition Entertainment leaves Universal to sign distribution deal with Sony

Independent Australian music company Ambition Entertainment has signed a domestic distribution deal with Sony Music Entertainment – calling it “a new era for our business”.

Ambition was founded by Robert Rigby in 2009 as a home for adult contemporary music and many long-standing Australian career artists.

Its main label of the company, Fanfare Records, is active across rock, blues, country genres, with contemporary signings including Mirusia (star soprano from the Andre Rieu concerts), Marina Prior, James Morrison, Todd McKenney, The Celtic Tenors and Vika Bull.

Other artists include Richard Clayderman, Frank Ifield, Julie Anthony, Don Burrows, Leo Sayer and Kevin Johnson.

In 2013 Fanfare enjoyed a big success with Russell Morris and his Platinum-selling Blues & Roots album “Sharkmouth”.

Morris scored the top selling album that year of any Australian artist and went on to win his first ARIA Award.

Ambition was previously distributed by Universal Music Group Australia.
