Amazon hires Big Machine’s Kelly Rich to grow country music presence

Amazon has hired respected Big Machine Label Group exec Kelly Rich as Senior Label Relations Manager, Nashville.

In her new role, Rich will be working directly with artists and labels in the country music genre.

Based in Nashville, she will report to Nicole Lund, Head of Label Relations.

Rich is Amazon Music’s second hire in Nashville in the last six months, as the tech firm continues to grow and create roots in local and country music communities.

Rich has been with Big Machine Label Group for 10 years, spending the last five as SVP of Sales, Marketing & Interactive.

She was hired by label boss Scott Borchetta in 2006 as BMLG passed its first year in operation.

Shortly after, Taylor Swift’s multi-million selling debut album was released.

Confirming Rich’s departure from BMLG, Borchetta paid tribute to her contribution to the company over the past decade.

He said: “Kelly and I have been working on and executing big marketing ideas since the late 90’s with Dreamworks Nashville.

“In late 2006, when Big Machine was just past its first year of operation, we jumped at the opportunity to hire Kelly to lead our sales and marketing team right as Taylor [Swift]’s debut album was being released.

“From that multi-million selling release to our latest Reba McEntire album release, Kelly has been a critical part of every win.

“I look forward to continuing to work very closely with Kelly on many, many more incredible marketing initiatives for Big Machine Label Group artists.”

Rich has been an integral part of BMLG’s success at retail and in enhancing the online presence of the label’s ventures through innovative technologies and partnerships.

Her achievements include Taylor Swift’s record-breaking RED album release, helping to build a social media fan base of over 75 million for the collective roster, and working with key physical and online retailers to earn artists a major marketing presence through multiple media platforms.

Rich’s efforts have contributed to more than 48 million album sales, more than 196 million digital track sales, and more than 11 billion streams from artists including Swift, Florida Georgia Line, The Band Perry, Thomas Rhett, Justin Moore, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Reba, Eli Young Band, Maddie & Tae, and more.
