Alex Vlassopulos leaves Rdio for music biz dev role at Google Play

Alex Vlassopulos, who for the past year has headed up business development at Rdio across Europe, has quit the streaming service to join rival Google Play.

The digital exec becomes Music Business Development Manager for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) at Google Play from this month.

He is tasked with overseeing distribution and partnerships for Google’s own branded entertainment services including Google Play Music.

Vlassopulos became VP and Head Of Business Development for EMEA at Rdio late last year.

He was responsible for discovering regional or pan-regional partners for the service’s marketing/promotion, bundling or other distribution and retail opportunities.

In the the four years prior to joining Rdio, Vlassopulos worked as VP of Commercial Development at B2B digital music specialist Omnifone.

He is also a former employee of Universal Music UK and Sony Music UK, where he was Head Of Business Development for Digital & Strategic Partnerships from 2006-2010.Music Business Worldwide
