Berlin-based Just 4 Noise, which generates audio samples from text prompts, has closed a $1 million funding round.

That’s according to its founder, Max Shafer, who announced via a LinkedIn post over the weekend that Just 4 Noise drew backing from a number of investors, including BADideas.fund, SoundInvest and Sound Hub Denmark.

BADideas.fund’s participation was made possible through its partnership with ALTUM under the Pre-Seed and Seed Stage Venture Capital Fund, co-financed by the European Union, according to a separate LinkedIn post by BADideas.fund.

Just 4 Noise lets producers describe the sound they want and get “individual, unique, royalty-free sounds” that they can drop directly into their DAW. BADideas.fund said that Just 4 Noise “focuses on quality, control, and ethical data sourcing”.

Shafer said: “With the $1m we took on, we are scaling the future foundation model for AI instrument generation—our goal: putting the power of technology directly in the hands of every audio creator.”

Shafer, a producer with a data science background, started the company in 2024 alongside Henning Nobmann, who brings close to a decade of experience building and deploying machine learning systems, according to BADideas.fund.

The investment fund said the idea for Just 4 Noise came from Shafer’s frustration in music production, particularly on spending an hour digging through sample libraries for a single usable sound.

“That pain, repeated session after session, became the starting point for Just 4 Noise… [T]he team set out to fix the most basic constraint in modern music production: sound discovery that breaks at scale. Instead of more presets and bigger libraries, they asked how producers could get the exact sound they imagine, on demand, inside their existing workflow,” said BADideas.fund.

Around 4,000 creators are now using the platform, “all without paid marketing,” the fund said. On the enterprise side, 10 audio companies have integrated Just 4 Noise models, including Native Instruments and Orchestral Tools.

The funding round comes amid strong investment interest in AI companies in the music space.

Earlier in February, London-based music technology startup Mozart AI said it secured $6 million in seed funding led by Balderton Capital. The company describes itself as a startup “revolutionizing music creation with AI-powered tools.” It offers a Generative Audio Workstation (GAW) for both amateur musicians and seasoned producers.

Also in February, AI audio startup ElevenLabs announced that it has raised $500 million in a Series D funding round, valuing the London and New York-headquartered company at $11 billion — more than triple its valuation from a year ago.

In January, Musical AI, formerly known as Somms.ai, raised $4.5 million in a funding round led by Heavybit, with participation from BDC and Build Ventures, to further develop its attribution technology.
