After Spotify, Ticketmaster inks deal with Samsung for voice assistant Bixby

Samsung is making a big play for music after recently signing a deal to make Spotify the “go-to music service provider” for its devices, and now the Apple-rival has partnered with Live Nation.

The agreement will see Ticketmaster’s API being used to power Samsung’s voice-activated assistant Bixby for those looking to discover and buy tickets using voice.

Samsung Galaxy Note9 owners in North America can now use their mobile device and voice to search for events by artists or teams, and location or event dates.

The integration aims to offer users a “personalized experience from event discovery to seat selection using voice technology”.

Bixby also powers Samsung’s new smart-speaker competitor to Apple’s Homepod and Amazon’s Echo, the Galaxy Home.

“Ticketmaster is constantly looking for new ways to make it easy for fans to discover events and buy tickets, and voice is an exciting technology,” said Jared Smith, President of Ticketmaster.

“By opening our platform over the past several years, Ticketmaster has greatly expanded our inventory’s reach and we’ve built a best-in-class list of third-party partners.

“Bixby offers yet another avenue for fans to tap into the largest selection of live events available.

“We’re excited about this partnership with Samsung because fans will see a personalized experience based on the artists, teams and events that they love the most.”Music Business Worldwide
