Absolute named amongst handful of Spotify’s recommended distributors

Absolute Label Services has been named as one of only a handful of ‘recommended’ digital distributors by Spotify.

A guide published on the streaming platform’s Spotify for Artists site lists its recommended and preferred artist and label distributors.

“We’ve defined a set of standards for distributors, and we’re able to recommend the following list of companies who have demonstrated their ability to work well with both artists and Spotify,” says Spotify.

Founded in 1998, independent label services company Absolute has worked on high profile album releases from artists and labels including Steps, All Saints, Jake Shears, Kim Wilde, Alice Cooper, 67, Dappy, Ay Em, RAM Records, Danny Jones, Ferris & Sylvester and many others.

Spotify’s ‘Preferred’ artist distributors are CD Baby and, naturally, DistroKid following the Swedish company’s acquisition of a ‘passive minority investment’ in the latter aggregator in late 2018.

At the time, Spotify said that artists who upload music directly through the beta Spotify for Artists platform will also be able to ‘seamlessly distribute their music to other platforms through DistroKid’ soon.

“These distributors meet our highest standards for providing quality metadata and protecting against infringement,” says Spotify of its ‘Preferred’ artist distributors. “These providers offer instant access to Spotify for Artists for all of their users.”

“We’ve defined a set of standards for distributors, and we’re able to recommend the following list of companies who have demonstrated their ability to work well with both artists and Spotify.”

The only ‘Recommended’ artist distributor listed is EmuBands.

In terms of label distributors, the only preferred aggregator is The Orchard, while recommended label distributors include FUGA, Believe and Absolute.

Spotify also lists two ‘Recommended delivery platforms’ as FUGA and EMS.

“Absolute Label Services is proud to offer comprehensive label and distribution services to all of our clients and we’re pleased that our commitment to delivering only the highest quality assets and metadata is being recognised by Spotify.”

Dianne Bonney, Absolute

Absolute’s Head Of Digital Operations, Dianne Bonney, said: “As streaming establishes itself as the dominant format of the modern day music business, it cannot be overstated how crucial quality metadata is to artists and labels, and how its importance will only increase over time.
