Amidst all the YouTube bashing that’s gone on lately, it might be easy to forget how valuable a promotional platform it can be for independent artists.
British singer/songwriter Hannah Trigwell has used the video streaming site to build a self-sustaining career after spending the last 10 years uploading covers and original songs to YouTube.
Trigwell’s channel now boasts more than 400,000 subscribers and has garnered almost 60 million views.
She’s toured the UK and Europe four times, performed sell-out shows in Asia, played Isle of Wight Festival and supported Walk Off The Earth at the O2 Brixton Academy on July 1.
And now she’s signed a deal with Absolute Label Services to help further her music career.

This is not the first time that Absolute has been the chosen as a label services partner by a YouTube star.
In 2015, the company launched the music career of YouTuber KSI with his single Lamborghini.
Absolute is also currently working with Irish singer/songwriter Bry and Mondo Management.
Bry set up his YouTube channel in 2009 and his videos – featuring original songs, covers and vlog entries – have since earned almost 20 million views and more than 385,000 subscribers.
Trigwell’s deal comes soon after UMG label Capitol signed Calum Scott – an artist who has also built a following on YouTube with the help of Conrad Withey‘s Instrumental.
