Vevo poaches Fullscreen’s Kevin McGurn as Chief Sales Officer

Vevo has appointed Kevin McGurn as Chief Sales Officer.

McGurn joins Vevo from YouTube multi-channel network Fullscreen, where he served as Head of Sales for the company as well as Otter Media properties including Crunchyroll, Roster Teeth SoompiTV and VRV.

Prior to Fullscreen, McGurn was chief revenue officer of Shazam.

He previously served as senior vice president of sales at Hulu for nearly seven years, where he grew the sales team from zero to half a billion dollars in advertising revenue.

McGurn will be based out of the New York office and also held prior senior roles at NBC Universal and DoubleClick.

“I am delighted to welcome Kevin McGurn to Vevo as our new Chief Sales Officer,” said Erik Huggers, Chief Executive Officer, Vevo.

“With our increasing focus on growing Vevo’s owned and operated properties globally, we needed someone with a proven track record to lead the way… Kevin is uniquely qualified in this regard.”

“With our increasing focus on growing Vevo’s owned and operated properties globally, we needed someone with a proven track record to lead the way.  Kevin is uniquely qualified in this regard and will make a significant impact on the long-term growth and success of our business.”

Added McGurn: “With some of the world’s most watched content and an audience of incredible scale, Vevo is the go-to destination for artists, their audiences and brands. This is a global media company built on premium content with an unrivaled reach to the most sought after audiences in the advertising marketplace.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join an already strong team as we look to elevate the company to the next level in 2017 and beyond.”

Vevo attracted nearly 100m US unique users to its platforms in October last year, across mobile and desktop.

43% of all YouTube viewers in the US watched a Vevo video within the Google platform in the same period.

Vevo is reportedly putting the brakes on plans to launch a subscription service in order to focus on building its ad-funded revenue – a mission in which McGurn’s appointment will clearly play a vital role.Music Business Worldwide
