Tunecore expands into Australia

Believe Digital-owned digital distributor TuneCore has launched TuneCore Australia two months after it landed in the UK.

TuneCore.com.au will allow Australian-based artists to collect revenue from streaming services, digital download stores, songwriter royalties, and sync licensing opportunities, all in their local currency.

TuneCore Australia artists can opt to include their music in stores controlled by partners including iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, Amazon Music, Deezer, 8tracks, and KKBOX, among many others.

Since the company’s inception in 2006, TuneCore says its artists have earned more than $600 million from over 22.5 billion downloads and streams.

In addition, Australian members will have access to TuneCore artist support services, including YouTube Sound Recording Revenues, LANDR, and TrackSmarts, as well as TuneCore customer support.

So how much does it cost?

  • New TuneCore Australian members signing up for an account will pay AUS $14.99 to upload a single for distribution.
  • Artists distributing an album will pay AUS $39.99 in the first year and AUS $65.99 each year thereafter.
  • Artists may also pay a onetime fee of AUS $99.99 for access to TuneCore Publishing Administration, which provides worldwide registration and royalty collection and placement opportunities in film, TV commercials, video games, and more. TuneCore Artists always retain complete creative control and ownership of their music.

“Our primary focus has always been to help music makers get their tracks and albums out worldwide for fans to enjoy,” said Scott Ackerman, CEO of TuneCore.

“Our continued global expansion into the Australian market will help further our mission to bring more music to more people around the world, while also helping musicians and artists collect revenue through TuneCore’s variety of services.”

TuneCore Australia is the fourth international expansion for the Brooklyn, N.Y-based service provider.

As mentioned, TuneCore UK was launched earlier this year while, TuneCore Japan and TuneCore Canada have been providing similar services for local customers since 2012 and 2011, respectively.Music Business Worldwide
