Top Spotify sales exec Jonathan Forster exits company

One of the longest-serving employees at Spotify, Jonathan Forster, is leaving the company.

The news was first reported by Swedish site Breakit, and has since been confirmed to MBW by sources close to the exec.

We’re told Forster, who was hired by Daniel Ek in 2007 – before Spotify’s launch – will remain at the firm until the end of the month.

The British exec was one of Spotify’s first dozen employees, and has been a close ally to Daniel Ek over the past decade.

Forster has played a key role in the growth of the world’s biggest streaming platform, which now boasts more than 100 million registered users around the globe.

His roles at Spotify have included GM of Europe and MD of the Nordics, while he was most recently VP of Sales for EMEA.

MBW understands that Forster has become an angel investor in promising startups over the years, and intends to dedicate more of his time to their development.

Spotify is expected to launch an IPO in the second half of next year.Music Business Worldwide
