The Offspring’s ‘Sony’ catalogue will now be distributed by Universal worldwide

The Offspring’s post-1997 catalogue is to be distributed by Universal‘s UMe worldwide after the major reached a multi-year deal with independent Round Hill Records.

The multi-year agreement includes six studio albums: Ixnay on the Hombre (1997); Americana (1998); Conspiracy of One (2000); Splinter (2003); Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace (2008); Days Go By (2012) – as well as the band’s Greatest Hits.

Round Hill purchased the master catalogue last year, in addition to The Offspring’s career-wide publishing rights, for a reported $35m.

Ironically enough, the list of titles was previously known as The Offspring’s ‘Sony‘ catalogue after the major’s Columbia signed the band in 1996.

The Offspring’s pre-1997 albums, including 1994’s 6X platinum (US) Smash, remain signed to and controlled by independent Epitaph Records.

“UMe has a great track record of creatively bringing new products from iconic catalogues to the marketplace and we’re excited about all the possibilities for the Offspring.”
