SoundCloud launches Turn Up the Vote campaign

SoundCloud has launched a new non-partisan, pro-democracy campaign called “Turn up the Vote” aimed at encouraging young voters to exercise their right to vote.

Turn Up the Vote is described as a multi-phased campaign focused on “key actions young voters need to take to get registered, get informed and vote”.

SoundCloud has also announced that it is now making election day an annual paid holiday for its US employees “to take time off to vote and engage in civic activities”.

SoundCloud has teamed up with HeadCount, a nonprofit youth civic participation organisation to create a dedicated voting resource hub.

According to SoundCloud, “with an emphasis on voter registration and early voting, the hub will help make the complex, state-by-state voting process easier for new and first time voters”.

Outreach will spread on SoundCloud and across all of its owned and operated channels, including a special on-platform advertising PSA campaign launching in October.

“Young voters are only just starting to tap the significant amount of voting power they have.”

“Young voters are only just starting to tap the significant amount of voting power they have,” said SoundCloud in a statement.

“1 in 10 eligible voters in the US are under 25 and growing each year.

“Generation Z is the largest and most diverse generation ever and they represent nearly half of SoundCloud’s US audience.

“Turn Up the Vote will be there to support them in 2020 and beyond as an annual, non-partisan, pro-democracy campaign for new and first time voters.Music Business Worldwide
