Sally Davies named MD of Universal’s UK live entertainment division

Sally Davies has been promoted to Managing Director of Universal Music’s live entertainment division, U-Live.

She will report to David Sharpe, COO of Universal Music UK.

In her most recent position as U-Live’s COO, Davies (pictured) has played a significant role in the success of the company since its launch in 2012.

U-Live is a promoter, producer and investor in live entertainment, working across outdoor festivals, live film and musical theatre.

Among its recent events have been hit West End musical Elf, Pete Townshend’s Classical Quadrophenia, Nocturne at Blenheim Palace and The Girls – a new theatre show produced in conjunction with Gary Barlow.

It says its remit will become even broader under its new leadership, with several projects in the planning stages for launch over the next 18 months.

Sally Davies says: “I feel very privileged to be leading our live division at such an exciting, pivotal time. We will benefit greatly from working closely with David’s team as we move forward with Universal Music’s live interests, delivering the projects already in our portfolio as well as exploring new opportunities.”

Prior to joining U-Live in 2012, Davies worked in a range of world class attractions including the London Eye and the National Museum of Science and Industry, the latter being voted the UK Visitor Attraction of the Year in 2004 and 2005 under her leadership.

Davies was part of the launch team for The O2 and joined AEG in 2007 as Head of Customer Services and Venue Manager for the Tutankhamen Exhibition which attracted two million visitors within a nine-month period.

Promoted to Events Director for The O2 in 2010 she was responsible for the delivery and financial performance of all events including leadership of the technical, operations and sales teams.

During this time The O2 was listed as the most successful arena in the world for five consecutive years.

In 2012, Davies was promoted to Assistant General Manager for The O2 campus responsible for all commercial affairs.Music Business Worldwide
