Rdio launches ‘radio stations’ from Glassnote, DFA, Mushroom and more

Streaming service Rdio has announced a string of curated ‘radio stations’ programmed by independent record labels such as Glassnote (US) DFA (US), Dirty Hit (UK) and Mushroom (Australia).

Rdio offers users three tiers across free, Rdio Unlimited ($9.99pm) and Rdio Select ($3.99pm).

In addition to its label stations, it is also rolling out more ‘influencer’ stations, from media and other music-related organisations.

The new stations are launching for the first time in Australia, Mexico, Brazil, India and Asia (which includes Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and Hong Kong), and additional stations have been added to the current offering available in the U.S., Canada and U.K.

“Rdio is committed to making music discovery fun, easy and personal,” said Anthony Bay, CEO, Rdio.

“In keeping with our objective of providing the world’s best Internet radio experience, we are proud to partner with key influencers and the label community to program their own branded stations.

“These stations not only help extend each labels’ brand presence but they also let our listeners anywhere in the world discover music from credible brands that they trust and respect.”

Dirty Hit recently scored a No.2 album in the UK with the debut from Wolf Alice (pictured), My Love Is Cool.
