ole has already spent $450m on acquisitions – now it’s ramping up

Canada-based rights management company ole has earnt a reputation for growth via acquisition: in the past 18 months alone, it’s snapped up the music publishing company of rock band Rush, the 2101 song catalogue, music agency Jingle Punks, the Mark-Cain catalogue plus a huge collection of compositions from Sony Pictures films.

The company’s taste for buyouts doesn’t appear to be waning, either: it’s just appointed Brian Holdcroft in the new role of Vice President of Acquisitions.

Holdcroft (pictured), a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), is a Mergers and Acquisitions professional who last served as Director of Finance – Acquisitions & Projects at the CBI Health Group where heoversaw over 40 acquisitions that contributed to more than tripling the size of the company.

Holdcroft will be based in the Toronto office of ole, which has now concluded close to half a billion dollars-worth ($450m) of acquisitions.

He will report directly to Ed Killin, EVP Acquisitions.

Founded in 2004, with operations in Toronto, Nashville, New York, and Los Angeles, ole’s catalogue now includes includes over 45,000 songs and 60,000 hours of TV and film music across all genres.

Songs under the firm’s control include those recorded by artists such as the Backstreet Boys, Beyonce, Blake Shelton, Britney Spears, Carrie Underwood, Eric Church, Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, Madonna, Michael Jackson, One Direction, Rihanna, Rush, Taylor Swift, and Timbaland.

Current ole writers include Rush, Timbaland, Tyler Farr, Josh Dorr, Gord Bamford, Brett Jones, Dave Turnbull, Jeremy Stover, Marty Dodson, and Ian Thornley. ole has ongoing Ventures with Last Gang Publishing, Roots Three Music, Jackoby Publishing, and most recently, ole-Bluestone Publishing, ole’s venture with global hitmaker Timbaland.
