Monti Olson named SVP of A&R at Warner Bros Records

Monti Olson has been appointed Senior Vice President, Artist & Repertoire at Warner Bros. Records.

He will be based at Warner Bros HQ in Burbank, California, and report to the label’s President Dan McCarroll.

Olson most recently served as Executive Vice President of Global Entertainment and Managing Director of Global Music Publishing, after serving as Executive Vice President/Head of Artist & Repertoire at Universal Music Publishing Group.

As MBW reported at the time, Global dramatically scaled back its US label and publishing operations in May last year, having launched in February 2015.

Throughout Olson’s career, he has worked closely with artists and songwriters including Maroon 5, Christina Aguilera, Ellie Goulding, All American Rejects, Corinne Bailey Rae, All Time Low, Damian Marley, Mike Einziger (Incubus), Martin Kierszenbaum (Lady Gaga), Chris “Tricky” Stewart (Beyoncé, Rihanna), Ester Dean (Katy Perry, David Guetta, Rihanna) and Ari Levine of The Smeezingtons (Bruno Mars).

With over 20 years of experience as an A&R executive, Olson’s work has earned over 50 pop publisher awards and 31 #1 singles.

Before joining Universal in 2007, Olson was Senior Vice President/Head of Artist & Repertoire at BMG Music Publishing for five years.

He also worked at Peer Music, Windswept Music Publishers and MCA Records.

He is a voting member of NARAS (National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences) and founded vinyl reissues record company Original Recordings Group.Music Business Worldwide
