Ministry Of Sound and Sigala sign multimillion dollar deal with Sony

Ministry of Sound Recordings and Sigala have entered into a multimillion dollar world licence deal (excluding UK and Australia) with Sony/Columbia/Ultra Records.

British producer Sigala has racked up up 3 major UK hit singles in just seven months, with over 2 million sales worldwide.

With digital streaming figures in excess of 300 million, the artist’s rapid rise has seen him become one of the most successful dance producers of the decade so far.

Ministry of Sound Recordings A&R Director, Dipesh Parmar, said: “Sigala can be huge in every territory, we spotted his talent very early on and signed him for the world on the basis of one track, he’s as prolific as he is creative – 3 x UK Top 5 hit singles in a row, including a UK #1 and a fourth imminent with ‘Give Me Your Love’ featuring John Newman and Nile Rodgers highlights that.

“He has already established himself as a strong songwriter, DJ and producer, he can become a global artist in his own right having already proven his potency in a lot of the major markets with ‘Easy Love’ and ‘Sweet Lovin’ with Worldwide sales in excess of 2.5 million.

“Sony, particularly Wolfgang Boss and Rob Stringer, have been very pro-active in their approach, we now have a strong long term view to make Sigala a global force.”

Sigala manager and Tileyard Music partner, Charlie Arme, said: “We are happy to be extending a relationship with Wolfgang Boss and Sony International that has worked incredibly well to date in mainland Europe.

“Columbia/Ultra in America and the wider Sony family worldwide join a campaign with serious global momentum, with thanks to Ministry of Sound, Spinnin, Subside, Discowax, Magic, Scorpio and Wolfgang and his team for the groundwork.

“The combination of Ministry of Sound and Sony moving forwards is nothing short of a global dream team for us, their collective passion for Sigala’s music from day one has spoken volumes and will no doubt deliver us results in the future.”

Sigala’s debut single ‘Easy Love’ debuted at No.1 in the UK, broke Ministry of Sound’s pre-order record, and is now certified Gold.

His follow-up, ‘Sweet Lovin’, was only denied a UK No.1 by two Justin Bieber singles. It stayed in the UK Top 20 for 12 weeks and has now gone Gold too.

‘Say You Do’ (feat. Imani and DJ Fresh), debuted at No.5 and has seen him increase his total UK radio plays to almost 200,000. It has just gone Silver in the UK.

His new single ‘Give Me Your Love’ featuring John Newman and Nile Rodgers is due to impact in June.

All four singles are currently in the Official Singles Chart Top 200.

Sigala’s recently been in the studio with Craig David (who joined Sigala for his first Radio 1 Live Lounge session), Felix Jaehn, Fuse ODG, and more, as well as putting the finishing touches to his debut album.

Sigala’s first UK live tour begins in September with shows at London’s Heaven, Manchester’s Deaf Institute, and Glasgow’s QMU. UK festival shows include V Festival, Creamfields, Capital’s Summertime Ball, Fusion Festival, and more. He embarks on his second DJ tour of North America in June.
