Midem 2016 avoids Glastonbury clash as June 7-10 dates confirmed

The music biz’s annual sojourn to the South of France will be back in 2016 – and it will be in the heart of summer once again.

Midem 2016 will take place from Tuesday 7 – Friday 10 June, organisers have confirmed.

Once again, the event will be based in Cannes at the Palais des Festivals, on La Croissette.

Organisers were originally considering dates in late June, but are believed to have wanted to avoid clashes with Glastonbury Festival in the UK, as well as national holidays in the US and Canada.

Glastonbury, one of the world’s biggest and most influential music festivals, traditionally takes place over the last weekend of June, with most punters arriving from Thursday evening onwards.

The 2016 edition of Midem will be the 50th anniversary of the conference, with suitable celebratory goings-on planned.

The architect of Midem over the past five years, Bruno Crolot, parted ways with parent Reed Midem earlier this year.Music Business Worldwide
