Deezer promotes Aurélien Hérault to take on Spotify’s Discover Weekly

Deezer has promoted Aurélien Hérault, who has been with the company since it launched in 2007, as Vice President of Product.

Hérault (pictured) will lead the Product, UX/UII and Research Teams and, according to a press release, ‘help shape the direction and future of the company as it develops more new features that will focus on the personalised experience for its listeners’.

Personalised listening experiences are all the rage in the world of streaming music right now, especially since the launch of Spotify‘s popular Discover Weekly playlist – which delivers a bespoke playlist based on their tastes to each user every Monday.

Hérault is said to have been instrumental in developing Deezer’s data algorithm, which works alongside the company’s team of music editors to identify recommendations for users.

“Aurélien will bring the development, data, design and product teams even closer together.”

“He will bring the development, data, design and product teams even closer together and further strengthen the entrepreneurial spirit of the company.”

Hérault joined Deezer in 2007 as the Lead Software Engineer, working alongside founder Daniel Marhely.

Over the years, Hérault demonstrated his talent and leadership skills taking on the role of VP Engineering in 2008 to 2012, followed by VP Research& Development from September 2012- February 2015.Music Business Worldwide
