Cooking Vinyl celebrates ‘incredible feat’ as Passenger claims UK No.1

Mike Rosenberg, better known as Passenger, claimed the Official UK No.1 Album on Friday (Sept 30) with Young As The Morning, Old As The Sea.

The album, released via Cooking Vinyl and distributed by Sony‘s Red Essential, pipped the latest effort from Bruce Springsteen, Chapter and Verse, to the UK top spot by just 704 sales.

It was CV’s first UK No.1 since The Prodigy’s The Day Is My Enemy, released in March 2015.

“Corks are popping and bubbles are flowing at Cooking Vinyl towers,” said Cooking Vinyl co-founder and CEO Martin Goldschmidt in reaction.

“Prodigy, Passenger, what other artists beginning with P can we sign?  Looking forward to the next one…”

He added: “Seriously a massive thank you to all the team – including Red Essential who also have the number 1 single this week – who against the odds pulled off an incredible feat,” added Goldschmidt.

“Special mention to Mike for trusting us, the great music and giving the campaign 110%.”

Former CV stablemate Red Essential, now owned by Sony Music UK, also distributed the UK No.1 single this week – James Arthur’s Say You Won’t Let Go (Syco).

Young As The Morning, Old As The Sea, released on Black Crow Records via Cooking Vinyl, is Passenger’s first ever UK No.1 album.

His biggest-selling record to date is 2012’s All The Little Lights, which contained smash hit Let Her Go.Music Business Worldwide
