BMG signs worldwide admin deal with Tafari Music business

BMG has signed an exclusive, worldwide administration agreement with the Tafari Music business.

BMG will administer the global publishing rights of the reggae and world beats music Tafari catalogue, which features over 4,000 titles.

The Tafari catalog include Bunny Wailer’s ‘The Electric Boogie (Electric Slide)’ ‘Blackheart Man’ and ‘Cool Runnings.’

Others on the roster includes Barrington Levy, David Hinds of Steel Pulse, Gregory Isaacs, Israel Vibration, Yellowman, Culture and Dean Fraser.

The company is headed by Gary Himelfarb, known as “Doctor Dread,” who is noted for his support of roots reggae artists.

“Tafari Music is a beacon to the reggae community and Doctor Dread shares BMG’s value of high-level service for clients,” said David Miller, Senior Director, Group Business Development at BMG. “Not only does this deal bring Tafari’s worldwide administration under one roof for the first time, it also brings together the master and publishing rights to the RAS Records masters catalog, purchased by BMG as part of our Sanctuary acquisition, effectively becoming a one-stop-shop for these rights.”

“I look forward to working with BMG to continue to build upon what Tafari Music has established in our thirty plus dedicated years of representing songwriters,” added Doctor Dread, President and Founder of Tafari Music.Music Business Worldwide
